Dream Big, Budget Smart

First things first, darlings. Before you start whipping out your credit cards like you're in a rom-com shopping montage, take a moment to dream big. Picture your dream wedding. Is it a grand affair in a historic ballroom or a cozy gathering in a sun-drenched garden? Once you’ve painted that picture, it’s time to get down to brass tacks and set a budget that’s as fabulous as you are.

Here is a starting guide to breaking down your wedding cost:

1. Venue and Catering: 40-50%

- This includes the cost of renting your ceremony and reception venues, as well as food and beverage costs. Venue and catering expenses typically consume the largest portion of the budget.

2. Attire: 8-10%

- This covers the bride and groom's attire, including the wedding dress, groom's suit or tuxedo, accessories, alterations, and grooming expenses.

3. Photography and Videography: 10-12%

- Capturing those precious moments is essential, so allocate a decent portion for professional photography and videography services. This includes coverage for the ceremony, reception, engagement shoot, and possibly a pre-wedding shoot.

4. Entertainment: 8-10%

- Whether you're hiring a DJ, live band, or other entertainment options, budgeting for music and entertainment ensures your guests have a fantastic time celebrating with you.

5. Flowers and Decor: 8-10%

- From bouquets and boutonnieres to ceremony arches and table centerpieces, floral arrangements and decor play a significant role in setting the ambiance for your wedding.

6. Wedding Planner/Coordinator: 8-10%

- If you're hiring a wedding planner or coordinator to help bring your vision to life and manage logistics, allocate a portion of your budget for their services.

7. Stationery and Invitations: 2-3%

- This includes the design, printing, and postage costs for save-the-dates, wedding invitations, RSVP cards, programs, and any other stationery items.

8. Transportation: 2-3%

- Budget for transportation expenses, such as limousine or car rentals for the wedding party, shuttle service for guests, and transportation to and from the ceremony and reception venues.

9. Wedding Rings: 2-3%

- Don't forget to budget for those all-important wedding bands! Allocate funds for purchasing your wedding rings, engraving, and any resizing or adjustments needed.

10. Miscellaneous Expenses: 5-7%

- Finally, set aside a portion of your budget for miscellaneous expenses that may arise, such as marriage license fees, wedding favors, gifts for the wedding party, and any unexpected costs that pop up along the way.

Remember, these percentages are just rough guidelines, and you should adjust them based on your priorities, preferences, and overall budget. Prioritize what's most important to you as a couple, and allocate your funds accordingly to create the wedding of your dreams within your means.
